Nokia Lumia 920 vs Apple iPhone 5

The Nokia Lumia 920's camera is by far one of the best fitted to a mobile phone. In the high-end mobile space, we have handsets like the Samsung Galaxy Note II, HTC One X, Apple iPhone 5 and Nokia's very own 808 PureView that will be competing for the title. Today, we had  a short hands-on time with Nokia's upcoming flagship WP8 device and what better rival to pit it against than the iPhone 5. Both phones feature 8MP BSI sensors (8.7MP for the Lumia) for better low light photography. The Lumia 920 however has a larger f/2.0 aperture as compared o the iPhone 5, which has a f/2.4 aperture. The Lumia's optical image stabilisation should also come in handy in low lighting conditions. Here's a direct comparision of two under different conditions. The Lumia 920 clearly has the upper hand here as there's a lot more detail notiecable and the image is not as grainy as that of the iPhone 5.

The Lumia once again does a good job adjusting the white balance of the image. The level of detail from both phones is pretty commendable.

Coming to an indoor macro shot, the Lumia once again fixes the white balance perfectly along with a lot more depth of field.

While the level of detail is pretty good from both phones, we feel the 920 has a slight upper hand once again.

This quick shootout proves that the PureView camera can indeed deliver under almost any condition. This makes it quite a potent option for those looking at serious photography from their smartphones.
